Become a Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties. To become a volunteer, please read and complete the three steps below.

We have six volunteer positions available for adults: Wish Granter, Community Representative, Office Assistant, Intern, Special Event Volunteer, and Board Member.

Our volunteer application process is as follows:

Part 1: Application

Please feel free to submit you application at any time. We will contact you when we have a class scheduled in your area.

Part 2: Interview and Online Orientation

Once we receive your application, you will be contacted for a phone or in-person interview. Following the interview, you will be send a link to complete online orientation courses before attending any training.

You will be sent a username and password to access the courses. Once the courses have been completed, you will be notified of the next step in the process for your particular volunteer role(s).

Part 3: Background Checks

Background checks are required for some volunteer roles. Once the steps above are completed you will receive an email to conduct your background check.

You must complete your background check within 2 weeks of receiving the email. There is a $26.03 fee for this background check and is valid for a maximum of 3 years. 

Note: You may not use a background check from another organization.

Part 4: In-Person Training

Wish Granters

New Wish Granters attend Wish Granter 101 in the area nearest their home. Experienced Wish Granters attend Wish Granting 201 annually.

New Wish Granter trainings are one-day and are scheduled on an as needed basis.

**Wish Granter 101 is for all NEW Wish Granters**

**Wish Granter 201 is UPDATE training for all Current Wish Granters**


Community Representative

New Community Reps attend Community Rep 101 in the area nearest their home. Experienced Community Reps do not need to be retrained annually but are welcome to attend for a refresher. Classes are 3-4 hours and scheduled on an as needed basis.

Office Assistant & Intern

Training will take place in the office once your application is reviewed and an opportunity becomes available.

Special Event

Event specific trainings will be scheduled during the days before and/or on the day of special events.
